About heavy periods

Do heavy periods affect your life?

If you suffer from unusually heavy or prolonged menstrual periods, you are not alone. It is estimated that 1 out of every 5 women suffer from this condition, also known as menorrhagia. Many women begin to experience heavy and/or irregular bleeding in their 30s and 40s, as they begin to get closer to menopause.

You can choose permanent contraception and still stop heavy periods.

If you suffer from heavy periods, staying on birth control pills or hormones is not the only option you have to try to control your bleeding.

In fact, hormone therapy tends to be a poor long-term treatment option for most patients because of poor bleeding control, side effects, and the need for daily compliance (if you're taking the pill)*.

NovaSure: the solution for heavy periods.

If you are considering or have had Adiana Permanent Contraception, there is another option that can put a stop to heavy periods for good: it's called NovaSure Endometrial Ablation.

NovaSure Endometrial Ablation is a one-time treatment to the lining of the uterus - the part that causes the bleeding. It avoids the hassles and side effects of hormones, as well as the risks of a hysterectomy. 9 out of 10 women in the Novasure Endometrial Ablation trial who have had the NovaSure procedure found that it lightened or stopped their bleeding altogether.1

If you’re considering both Adiana Permanent Contraception and NovaSure Endometrial Ablation, you must have the Adiana procedure performed first.

Both the Adiana and NovaSure procedures are only for women who do not wish to have any children in the future. In women who are candidates for both procedures, the Adiana procedure must be done first. After the 3 month waiting period, the Adiana HSG confirms that the fallopian tubes are fully blocked and it is no longer possible to become pregnant. At that point, the NovaSure procedure can be performed.

Talk to your doctor to find out more about both the Adiana and NovaSure procedures.
